One person is reported to have been injured as men of the Lagos State Police Command clashed with some traders in the popular Alaba Rago area of the state.
The incident at the popular Alaba Rago market was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday 17th January 2023, by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin .
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the the shooting unfolded when some Policemen of Okokomaiko Division today (Tuesday) went into Alaba Rago Market to effect the arrest of a suspect but came under heavy attack from a large number of traders.
He stated that “in a bid to tactically retreat from the armed mob attack, one of the officers fired his weapon, resulting in a fatal injury to one of the attackers. A detailed investigation has commenced into the immediate and remote causes of the incident,” he said.
A few minutes after the post by the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, some Nigerians trooped to the comment section of the social media handle of the Command to drag the Police Force.
