An intruder who beat security to enter the Elysee Palace in France in order to talk to President Emmanuel Macron has been arrested, AFP reports.
According to the report by AFP, and French TV, BFM, unknown to the police, the intruder was arrested while he was at the steps of the front steps of the presidential palace.
BFMTV reported that the case dates back to September 28, which was first confirmed by Le Canard enchaîné. According to the source, the intruder took advantage of the flow of workers working on a construction site in the kitchens to enter the enclosure of the Elysee Palace.
The intruder managed to get to the front steps before being arrested by the gendarmes who handed him over to the police of the Paris police headquarters. The man, who is not known to the police and justice services, said “want to speak to the president.”
Since this intrusion, the control system at the entrances as well as the distribution of pedestrian flows have been reinforced, AFP reports. At the same time, the Paris prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation, closed without further action the same day, judging the prosecution inappropriate.
