“We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues,” said Fox News’ then-EVP Programming Bill Shine of the 2015 firing. The official exit came after a four month absence of Beckel from the Rupert Murdoch-owned cable newser.

After an internal investigation, the decision was made to fire Beckel again in May 2017.

The second firing of Beckel occurred as Fox News was still hoping to move beyond the stigma of the sex scandals and other misconduct by the likes of former top dog Robert Ailes and top host Bill O’Reilly, among others.
