Little Rayan: Rescuers Working To Save Child From Hole

Rescuers in Morocco are still working hard to try and save a 5-year-old Little Rayan from a well.

According to a report by AFP, a tube of oxygen was able to be transmitted to little Rayan, who have been stuck in a hole 45 cm in diameter since last Tuesday. Rescuers dig nearly 30 meters deep to try to recover it.

The rescuers are engaged in a race against time. A large-scale rescue operation has been deployed in a village in northern Morocco to try to save little Rayan, a 5-year-old boy stuck in a well for more than two days after an accidental fall.

A complex task that involves significant human and material resources.

Last Tuesday, the boy’s father repaired the 32-meter-deep well. Suddenly, her son disappears: he fell into the well during a moment of inattention.

Since then, little Rayan could not be recovered and the whole country is hanging on to this case.

“When he disappeared yesterday, I prayed to God and begged him to get him out of this well safe and sound. I hope the rescuers and the rescuers will succeed in saving my son”, hopes Wassima Kharchich, the mother of Rayan, worried.

Water and oxygen sent to the boy

Dozens of rescuers are currently struggling to try to save the boy and diggers have been made available to the rescuers to carry out the rescue operation.

Quickly, the relief managed to send water and oxygen to the young boy via tubes inserted into the well.

“I managed to speak with the child. I asked him if he could hear me and there was a response. I waited for a minute and saw that he was starting to use the oxygen”, testifies Imad Fahmy, first aider.

A hole 27 meters deep

To recover the child, it was impossible to widen the well, which was only 45 cm in diameter. The risk of landslide would be too great, according to the topographers.

The rescuers, therefore, dig around the well. They have already been able to reach 27 meters deep and hope to soon reach 32 meters, the depth where the child is, before making a horizontal breach of 3 meters and recovering, they hope, the boy.

The operation is followed by a large part of the Moroccan population who follow the progress of the rescuers broadcast live on television.
