Manchester United’s French midfielder, Paul Pogba and mom Yeo are showing their support to Guinea, after they qualified for the last 16 at the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon.

Paul Pogba and mom Yeo in a photo posted by the midfielder on Friday, while also spotted a jersey of the Guinean national football team, urged them to go all the way to bring the AFCON cup back home.

Paul Pogba who plays for the French National team, has never hidden his love for his African root, as he constantly showcases them on his social media handles, and this public show of support to his native country of Guinea on Friday, did not come as a surprise.

Guinea reached the last 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations despite losing their final Group B match 2-1 against already-eliminated Zimbabwe.

Knowledge Musona’s downward header and Kudakwashe Mahachi’s low strike put the Warriors two up at half-time.

Guinea captain Naby Keita replied with a stunning goal in Yaounde, in a match that saw referee Salima Mukansanga make history.
Guinea finish second in the group table, ahead of Malawi on head-to-head record after the Flames drew 0-0 with Senegal.

The West Africans will now face the Gambia on Monday, 24 January but will be without Liverpool midfielder Keita, who will be suspended after picking up his second booking at the tournament.

Paul Pogba and mom had in 2019 attended a charity football match in his homeland aimed at raising funds to provide clean drinking water in Guinea.

While speaking on the initiative then, Pogba’s mom had spoken about the importance of their charity in Guinea where she said:

“For this first year, we are trying to raise funds for children through providing drinking water, health and education, that’s the first step,” she said.

“Before being footballers, we are men, we are humans, we are children. My mother who is here is Guinean, and my father was Guinean. we want to help our country, it’s the country of our ancestors, of our parents. We want to do something good,” Paul Pogba had said then.
