The Arsenal and Liverpool Carabao Cup semi-final first leg game that was supposed to take place on Thursday, has been postponed due to a “severe outbreak of COVID-19” at Liverpool.
According to the report by BBC Sports, Liverpool temporarily closed their first-team training centre on Wednesday after assistant manager Pep Lijnders became the latest to have to isolate.

will now be at Anfield on 13 January and the second at Emirates Stadium on 20 January, both at 19:45.
Liverpool had requested the postponement on Tuesday, the report added.
The EFL said in a statement it had been in “regular dialogue” with the club since then “in an attempt to understand whether the tie could proceed”.
The statement continued: “Significant developments over this period have resulted in the club reporting an ever-increasing number of Covid cases.
“Having now fully reviewed the circumstances involved, the League has accepted Liverpool’s request after determining, albeit reluctantly, that a postponement was the only option as the club looks to mitigate against the further risk of infection amongst its squad and staff alongside ensuring public health was protected by not travelling from Liverpool to London.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Liverpool said their training facilities would be closed for at least 48 hours because of a “rapidly growing number” of coronavirus cases.
Lijnders took charge for Sunday’s Premier League draw at Chelsea, with manager Jurgen Klopp already isolating.
Players Alisson, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino missed that game too and three other staff members tested positive.
Liverpool – further stretched by the departure of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita for the Africa Cup of Nations – cancelled a news conference due to be led by Lijnders on Wednesday.
Following the postponement, the club said in a statement it “would like to place on record its thanks to the EFL and Arsenal for their understanding, as well as supporters of both clubs, as we continue to navigate through this challenging period”.
Liverpool are due to host Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup third round on Sunday (14:00), while Chelsea host Tottenham in the other Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday (19:45 GMT).
