Again, NBA star-studded USA Basketball team have been stunned by France by 83-76 in their opening game on Sunday, at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic Basketball game.
The USA basketball team who after some shocking results in their warm-up games going into the Tokyo Olympics, felt they have nothing to worry about, since the games they lost were mere warm-up games, with this result, now have some serious questions to ask themselves.
The USA male team lost to Nigeria and Australia in their warm-up games. Both Nigeria and Australia met earlier today, with Australia coming out of that game with a convincing victory, why Nigeria showed a lot of promise.
The team with all the NBA stars was cruising to what appeared to be an easy victory, leading by seven with under four minutes left in the game. But France scored the next 14 points to snatch the game under their nose.
The USA basketball team must now win their final two pool play games against Iran and the Czech Republic to advance to the medal round. The loss was Team USA’s first in the Olympics since it fell short of the medal stand in 2004.
Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant had 10 points before fouling out. Milwaukee’s Jrue Holiday, fresh off his NBA championship, had a team-high 18 points, and Miami’s Bam Adebayo added 12.
Team USA’s next game is Wednesday against Iran, which lost its opener, 84-78, earlier Sunday to the Czech Republic.
