Larry Saperstein 'High School Musical' Says He's Bisexual

Actor Larry Saperstein, who plays Big Red on Disney+ show “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” announced he is bisexual

Larry Saperstein, 23 had on Tuesday, opened up on his official social media handle that he is bisexual. He shared in a TikTok video that he “plays a character with a girlfriend on TV,” but “is bi (in real life).”

In the current season, his character, a theatre tech crew member-turned-performer, is dating fellow theatre cast member Ashlyn (Julia Lester).

“is it really that unexpected tho #pride,” Saperstein added of his announcement in the video caption.

He is not the only one to have come out as gay, as more Hollywood actors and actresses have coming out of the closet to celebrate Pride month with different announcement and celebration.

Another good example, was Joshua Bassett, who plays lead character Ricky in the Disney+ series) who had many people online thinking he came out as queer after he confessed that he thought Grammy-winning popstar Harry Styles was hot.

“What I admire about Harry Styles is he’s a very classy man, and he’s also very well-rounded, and he kind of does it all,” Bassett said in a May video for Clevver News. “Acting, singing, fashion. And I think that he’s just a nice guy who doesn’t say too much, but when he talks, it matters.”

He even called his confession a “coming out.”

“He’s just cool,” he continued. “Who doesn’t think Harry Styles is cool? Also, he’s hot. He’s very charming too. Lots of things. I guess this is also my coming out video I guess.”

After his wording caused a media frenzy, Bassett later released a public, social media statement saying that he’s still “figuring out” his sexuality.

“My entire life people have told me my sexuality,” he wrote. “People have shamed me for things they know nothing about. I want to say thank you to those of you who stand for love and acceptance.”

Shortly afterwards, Larry took to Twitter to reveal that, in honour of Pride Month, he’s working on a drag look that he hopes to surprise his followers with!

“I have t-minus 30 days to figure out how to do drag so I can turn out a look before the end of the month,” Saperstein wrote. “#HappyPrideMonth. I love you ALL SO MUCH.”
