Rapper Lil Baby was on Tuesday spotted at the White House, as the world marks George Floyd’s anniversary. He was spotted with the family of George Floyd and others at a press conference.
May 25th marked the first George Floyd’s anniversary, which is a year since he was killed by Derek Chauvin of the Minneapolis Police Department. Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly 10 minutes. At the time, Floyd was being accused of paying at a local market with a counterfeit $20.
Following Floyd’s death, protests happened nationwide in the US as citizens demanded justice for the unarmed man. Last month, Chauvin ended up being convicted of charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
May 25 brought up conversations of policing in America after Floyd got justice in court along with the fact that he lost his life for no reason. His family ended up visiting President Joe Biden on Tuesday and there was a special guest with them as well. This was grammy-nominated rapper, Lil Baby. Baby watched on as Floyd’s family spoke at a press conference about losing him a year later. Baby was introduced to the public here by his first name, Dominique.
Following the press conference, Baby and Floyd’s family spoke with TMZ. At that moment, Baby expressed how the George Floyd Police Act Bill needs to be passed, something that was discussed today at the White House as well. This bill would end up providing a registry of police officers who commit violations such as what Chauvin did to Floyd as well as banning qualified immunity of officers and racial and religious profiling by officers.
Last November, Baby came through for the Floyd family in a major way then, as well. He paid for Floyd’s daughter, Gianna’s birthday party in Atlanta. It was a pink-themed party as Gianna and her friends were also able to get their nails done. Baby earned a lot of respect on social media as he’s been speaking on injustices over the past year and has been building a solid relationship with Floyd’s family. Hopefully, the George Floyd Police Act Bill will get passed soon as well.
