Warri-South Council Boss, Hon. (Dr) Michael Tidi, on Tuesday, affirmed that security and a cleaner environment remained at the apex of his priorities. He said this while resuming office for a second term.

He said that as the reelected chairman of the council he will partner with traditional rulers and the people of the council to achieve their goal.

Warri-South Council Boss, Dr Tidi made this statement when the Head of Personnel Management of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Igbrude, handed over the administration of the council back to him.

The Warri-South Council boss who was reelected on Saturday’s elections as the chairman of Warri South and took his oath of office in Asaba on Monday, said he intends to hit the ground running as he has already called for a security meeting to be held on Tuesday.

“I and my vice we have hit the ground running. The first security meeting will take place today.

“We have a clear cut idea of what we intend to do this second term and we intend to push forward our ideas with all vigour.

“Security is key and we don’t intend to joke with it. We are going to address the issues of security squarely and in doing this we will partner with our traditional rulers,” Tidi said.

“Next is the state of the local government as it concerns the environment. We want to ensure that we have a cleaner environment.

“We want to discourage indiscriminate disposal of waste in the council. We want to ensure that when you enter the council you will know that this is a clean council and we will become a reference point as one of the cleanest council areas in the state,” Tidi said.

He said the council will set up a task force on the environment to ensure compliance with the new environmental laws that will soon be out.

Tidi also announced the dissolution of all ad-hoc staff of the council till further notice.

Tidi thanked the state Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP leaders and the entire Warri South Local Government Area for giving him another opportunity to serve them.

Earlier, the HPM of the council, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Igbrude, while congratulating Tidi for his victory at the just concluded poll, said Tidi’s victory at the poll was as a result of his “unequalled and superlative display of unparalleled management of human and material resources in his first tenure.”

Igbrude, who intimated the chairman on happenings within the council area when the chairman was not around, commended leaders within the council area for their contribution towards the success of the immediate past council elections.
