The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has suspended one of its lecturers, who was identified as Mr Chigozie Odum for allegedly impregnating four students, within his four years of being appointed as a lecturer.
According to a letter allegedly released and signed by the school (UNN), the suspended lecturer was asked to stay away from official duties until the conclusion of an investigation into the allegation.
He has also been placed on half salary pending the final disposal action on the case.
While the identities of the students were not made public by the Vice-chancellor of UNN, the said lecturer is yet to release a statement denying the said allegation as at the time of this report.
The letter released and signed by the Deputy Registrar of UNN was dated 15th February 2021.
The school released the statement that reads:
“Following the accusations of sexual harassment made against you by a female student in the Department of Archeology and Tourism, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that you be suspended from duty immediately.
You are hereby so suspended from duty with immediate effect.
You should stay away from your duty post until the final determination of the allegations against you.
You should also handover any University property in your custody to the head of the Department of Archeology and Tourism.
The Bursar is by a copy of this letter, advice you on half salary pending final disposal action your case.
