Mr Macaroni Allegedly Being Tortured By Police

Popular entertainer Debo Adebayo, known better as Mr Macaroni and others were shown in a video that has since gone viral on social media, stripped to their trousers as they are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti from Ikeja.

The are alleged to being tortured or subjected to other ill-treatment at Panti, including being stripped naked, beaten, and threatened for carrying out a peaceful protest.

Although we cannot substantiate the video, the Police are shown mocking Mr Macaroni and other arrested peaceful protesters of #EndSARs inside a crowded Police van.

The video further points to a campaign of widespread torture and other ill-treatment by authorities, who are intent on crushing peaceful protests by any means.

According to an earlier report, Mr Macaroni and others were
picked up by the Police at the Lekki toll gate for peacefully engaging in a protest.

They were at the toll gate to express dissatisfaction with the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry allowing the Lekki Concession Company to reopen the Lekki tollgate on Saturday.

The police had earlier on Friday had a show-of-force exercise to express its disapproval of the planned protest.

They have been transferred to Panti from Ikeja where they were initially taken to.

Moe Odele who has been tracking the arrested persons by the Nigeria Police, in her latest update on her official Twitter handle, posted this message:

“We just got word that the arrested persons are in Panti. Lawyers are on their way to Panti now. Just to refresh, today the lawyers have gone from Adeniji, to Ikeja and now Panti. They still haven’t been given access to the arrested persons,” she said.

So far, it has been total condemnation of the Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu and the Nigeria Police for the way they have gone about everything, and the #EndSARs tag is the number one trending topic on Twitter with over 2million.
