Arsenal have dropped to 10th position on the English Premier League table, after they recorded yet another defeat away to Aston Villa. The defeat in the hands of Aston Villa, on Saturday, is the first time in 28-years Aston Villa will be completing their first-top-flight double over Arsenal.
It is also Arsenal’s second defeat in two games, after losing against Wolves in the last game by the same goal margin.
The only goal in the game, was scored by in-form Aston Villa striker, Ollie Watkins. The goal was scored in the 74th seconds in the opening half of the game.
Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez started the move which led to Bertrand Traore pouncing on a mistake by Cedric Soares before Ollie Watkins scored with a shot that deflected off Rob Holding.
Martinez frustrated his former club further when the Argentine produced an excellent save to keep out Granit Xhaka’s free-kick.
Villa moves up to eighth in the Premier League with Arsenal likely to go down further to 13th or 14th, depending on the results in the other games to come.
