1000 Artisans Under FG SPW Get Tools In Awka South

The Federal Government Special Public Works programme have distributed working tools to about 1000 artisans in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Transition Committee Chairman, of Awka South Mr. Leo Nwuba disbursed the tools and equipment required for the Special Public Works programme to nine communities in the Council Area.

The disbursement exercise which took place at the local government headquarters in Awka, saw the Presidents General of all the nine Communities in the local government area receive the individual working materials for the hirees.

The programme was designed to employ 1000 artisans from each of the 774 local government areas under the Special Public Works (SPW).

The employees will earn N20,000 monthly stipends for three months under the programme.

According to the Federal Government, this will amount to N46.44 billion as stipends for the stop-gap jobs.

The transient job programme is a dry season off-farm transient job initiative of the Federal Government aimed at mitigating the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic engaging one thousand persons per Local Government Area (LGA) deployed to various locations within the 774 LGAs of the country to provide services critical to the rehabilitation and maintenance of public infrastructure within various communities for three months.
