Thomas Tuchel is reported to have been offered a four-and-a-half-year contract to replace Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager.

According to the reports by theathletic, the former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, will be confirmed today or Tuesday, before Chelsea next game. The club will also announce the sacking of Frank Lampard today after his poor run of results in over a month.

Thomas Tuchel was forced to retire aged 25 with a knee injury as a player.
His first major role was with Mainz — replacing Jurgen Klopp — where he spent five seasons. He left the club in 2014 after a dispute over finances and was hired by Borussia Dortmund a year later, again replacing Klopp.

Tuchel spent two years at Dortmund before being sacked. He then replaced Unai Emery as Paris Saint-Germain boss in May 2018, but was relieved of his duties in Paris in December with the club third in Ligue 1.

At Mainz, Thomas Tuchel took a newly-promoted club in 2009 and, with extensive use of their young prospects, established them as Bundesliga regulars.

Though he was sacked by Dortmund, in his two seasons there he finished second and third in the league and won the German Cup in his final campaign.

Thomas Tuchel won back-to-back titles with PSG, as well as two cups, and guided them to the Champions League final last season where they lost to Bayern Munich.

Chelsea have won only two of their eight Premier League matches, with the wins against West Ham and Fulham far from convincing despite the results.

The Chelsea board have been waiting for weeks for Frank Lampard to turn over the poor run of results, but he seems to lack the managerial ability to do so, which has led the club to take this decision to get a coach with more experience and the tactical know-how, but most importantly, a coach they believe would get the best out of the likes of Werner and Havertz who have struggled of late.
