George Clooney is backing his friend and fellow actor, Tom Cruise for shouting at his crew members who tried to breach the coronavirus guidelines while on the set of Mission Impossible 7 in the United Kingdom.

Tom Cruise as we reported on Wednesday, had issued a strong warning to his Mission Impossible crew members over breaking the coronavirus rules while on set. The actor who is reported to have worked tirelessly behind the scene to enforce tight social distancing rules during the filming of Mission Impossible 7 in the United Kingdom, was caught ranting to his crew that they are gone if they break COVID-19 rules on set.

While others condemned Tom Cruise for his rage, and overreacting, others have praised the actor who issued a strong stand on his set. One of those who have sided with Tom Cruise, is another actor, George Clooney.

Clooney while speaking on the issue, was reported to have told US radio shock jock Howard Stern that he wouldn’t have done it “quite that personally”.

But that he totally understood Cruise’s “responsibility” for all involved.

“He didn’t overreact because it is a problem,” Clooney told the Sirius XM DJ, while promoting his new film The Midnight Sky, according to People.

“I have a friend who’s an AD [assistant director] on another TV show who just had the almost exact same thing happen with not quite as far out a response.”

“I wouldn’t have done it that big. I wouldn’t have, you know, pulled people out,” he added. “You’re in a position of power and it’s tricky, right? You do have a responsibility for everybody else and he’s absolutely right about that.

“And, you know, if the production goes down, a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and have to be responsible. It’s just not my style to, you know, to take everybody to task that way.”

Clooney admitted that he didn’t fully know the circumstances but wondered how many times the coronavirus regulations had been breached before Cruise lost his temper.

In the recording, Cruise can be heard shouting: “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. We are creating thousands of jobs.

“That’s it. No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their [expletive] homes because our industry is shut down.
“We are not shutting this [expletive] movie down. Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re [expletive] gone.”

Fifty members of staff at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Herts, were left stunned by the angry outburst.

The latest instalment of the franchise, Mission: Impossible 7, has already been hit with a host of Covid-related delays as cast and crew travel around Europe.

In October, the Top Gun actor held crisis talks with the film’s director Christopher McQuarrie, 52, days after 12 people on set in Italy were said to have tested positive.

Up to 150 extras were told not to come in to shoot scenes in Venice as health chiefs traced contacts of those who had tested positive.

The Sun also reported that after returning to the UK two weeks ago, Cruise has personally tried to ensure there are no more delays.
