Manchester United are out of the UEFA Champions League, after losing 3-2 to RB Leipzig on Tuesday night. The defeat means that the Red Devils will be heading to the Europa League, after playing their last group game.
The team managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, were poor as we have seen so many times this season, and from the kickoff of the game. They were punished by RB Leipzig as early as in the 13th minutes. The home team netted twice in that time, to mount pressure on Manchester United which needed just a point to progress to the next stage of the Champions League.
Manchester United failed to control the game, as the home side played intelligently both on and off the ball, with the goalkeeper making fine saves in front of goal.
Manchester United were lucky on the night with the two goals scored. A Bruno Fernandes penalty which was not enough to be called a penalty after it was awarded when a foul was called on Mason Greenwood by Ibrahima Konate. And the deflected header from a combined effort from Harry Maguire and Pogba for the second goal.
Angelino, who is currently on loan in Germany from Manchester City,
slotted home a shot into the far corner after just two minutes and was followed soon after by a chipped cross to the back post, where Amadou Haidara ghosted into volley past David de Gea.
Substitute Justin Kluivert chipped in following some shoddy defensive play from Maguire and De Gea.
RB Leipzig advance to the Champions League last 16 having reached the last four in 2019-20.
