Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife Dolapo, were among the dignitaries that attended the funeral service held for the late Chief Mrs Abigail, the mother of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
The Oyo state governor who lost his mother Chief(Mrs) Abigail Omojolagbe Amope Makinde (nee Omoregie) at the age of 81, organised a funeral service for his mother which saw huge gatherings of mostly politicians and other well wishers in attendant. They all came from all over the country to pay tribute to the late Mrs Abigail.
The funeral service which held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan on Saturday, also saw the likes of Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala, Chief Segun Oni, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Amosun, Peter Obi, some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors, PDP chairman, Uche Secondus and others from All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Seyi Makinde who was overwhelmed by the show of love from Nigerians, took to his official social media handle to thank everyone for their kind words, and for coming. He posted some photos from the event, with these few words of appreciation. He said:
“We held the funeral service for my mother, Chief (Mrs) Abigail Omojolagbe Amope Makinde (nee Omoregie) at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, today. My tribute to her was about our unique relationship & a celebration of her life. May her soul rest in the bosom of our Lord.
I thank everyone who came to Ibadan today to attend the funeral ceremony and honour Mama. I especially thank His Excellency, @ProfOsinbajo the Vice President, his wife, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo and the entourage from the Presidency.
I also thank former governors; Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala, Chief Segun Oni, Otunba @JustusOGD ,Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator @SIAmosun and @PeterObi, and the delegation of our great party, @OfficialPDPNig led by our Chairman, Prince @UcheSecondus,” he said.
