All Passengers Rescued After Bus Veered Onto Train Tracks In Oshodi

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that its officers have rescued all six passengers of a bus that crashed onto a train tracks on Monday, while crossing the rail at PWD inward Oshodi. The Bus after crashing onto the train tracks, further collided with a scheduled commuter train, but no serious damage was done.

In a statement released on Monday 14th September 2020, by Mr Gboyega Akosile who is the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, said the accident happened on Monday, but did not give the time it happened.  He confirmed that all passengers were successful rescued, and that there was no loss of life.

According to Mr Akosile who was giving an update on the accident in Oshodi, said at about 8:12am, LASEMA received distress calls at and upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a passenger bus with the registration number, GGE 972 GE with six passengers had veered onto the train tracks while crossing the rail at PWD inward Oshodi, and subsequently collided with a scheduled commuter train.

He said, “the bus was then dragged along for a stretch of the journey before the train managed to come to a complete halt. The Agency was able to successfully extricate the passengers and note that there was no loss of life.

Casualties have been provided with on-site medical care and discharged Members of the public, especially drivers of commuter buses are reminded to obey traffic regulations to prevent injuries and transport delays. The wreckage of the bus has been safely removed,” he said.
