Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu has commiserated with families, friends and associates of the victims of the unfortunate Ikeja helicopter crash on Friday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu in a condolence message signed on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile on Friday, promised that his Government would work with all the relevant Federal Government agencies to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the Ikeja Helicopter crash, so as to prevent a re-occurrence in the future.

The Governor advised residents of Opebi and its surrounding to go about their business peacefully saying:

“There is nothing to fear as men and officers of the State emergency services were promptly deployed to the scene of the crash and they had brought everything under control. The environment is also safe and secure.”

The Governor prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and grant the families they left behind the fortitude the bear the irreplaceable loss.

Recall that we reported that at least two people were confirmed dead at the Ikeja helicopter crash, after it crashed into a private home in Opebi area of Lagos State.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Services, aside from the two people that were killed in the crash in Opebi, an adult male who was said to have been badly injured in the crash, was rescued and taken to LASUTH for further treatment. The dead bodies have been deposited at the mortuary.

Speaking on the Opebi crash, the leader of the Lagos State Emergency Services team, DG/CEO, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu while addressing reporters at the scene, said the incident happened at No 16A Salvation Road Opebi, Lagos.

“On the arrival of the Agency’s combined Response Team, it was observed that there was a helicopter crash. Further investigation gathered revealed,” he said.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, giving further details on the helicopter, said it was a Bell Helicopter 206B3, belonging to Quorum Aviation Ltd. The crashed he said happened at 12 pm.
