Naya Rivera has been confirmed dead, after a few days of intense searched, and her body found in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California.
According to reports on Monday night, Naya Rivera who went missing and presumed dead after her four-year-old son was found alone in a boat in California.
The Glee star and her son Josey rented a pontoon boat on Lake Piru on Wednesday afternoon, but three hours later another boater raised the alarm after seeing the vessel drifting and the child asleep on board.
Cops found Rivera’s life vest on the boat and believe that ‘she did go in the lake’ to go swimming, acknowledging that ‘this may well be a case of drowning’. Her car was reportedly found nearby.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed had confirmed that the missing woman was Naya Rivera, who starred in Glee from 2009 to 2015.
Divers and helicopters were scouring the reservoir until darkness fell but the search has now been halted until first light.
Her body was later found and identified as the missing person involved in a possible drowning at Lake Piru on July 8, 2020. Naya Rivera body was found after five days of search. She was 33.
Sheriff Bill Ayube of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at a press conference on Monday that there was no indication of suicide or foul play.
“He and Naya swam in the lake together,” Ayub said about Rivera and her son. “It was during that time that her son described being helped onto the boat by Naya. … He told investigators he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water.” Later, he added, “We believe that she mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself.”
Since the sad news, celebrities have taken to their social media accounts to mourn the Glee star.
