Kai Havertz Reportedly Asks To Leave Leverkusen This Summer

Chelsea transfer target, Kai Havertz is reported to have put up a transfer request, asking to be allowed to leave his club, Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Although not confirmed yet, UK Metro sport reported that Chelsea are ready to pay the midfielder’s €100 million (£89.8m) asking price.

Kai Havertz who is sill just 21-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe following his impressive performances in the Bundesliga. Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in the midfielder but the newly crowned Premier League champions have been put off by Leverkusen’s high valuation.

According to Bild, Chelsea are now leading the race to sign Kai Havertz as they are the only club who are currently in a position to meet Leverkusen’s asking price, the report said.

However, Chelsea are looking to fund the deal by paying in instalments with €70m (£62.9m) upfront plus another €30m (£26.9m) in bonuses.

Kai Havertz is understood to be keen on joining Chelsea on the condition that they secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Bild also reports that Real Madrid are very interested in signing Kai Havertz but the Spanish club cannot fund such an expensive transfer without offloading players first. Havertz, however, is not prepared to wait another year and wants to leave Leverkusen this summer

Bayern Munich are also keen admirers of Kai but the Bundesliga champions have already indicated that they are only interested in a deal next summer having already signed Leroy Sane from Manchester City.
