Burna Boy has cleared the air on the allegation by a South African singer, that he allegedly told Stormzy and his record label, Atlantic Records to take down Own It remix she was featured in, after she was nominated alongside him for BET awards.
The said South African singer who had previously put out a series of hate tweets towards Nigerians and Burna Boy for calling out South Africans after the Xenophobic tweets from AKA, said Burna Boy allegedly told British-Ghanaian rapper, Stormzy to take down Own it remix out of fear.
The singer who is still an upcoming act and not well known outside of South Africa, took to her twitter account on Thursday putting out a series of tweets bashing Burna Boy yet again. She said:
“For those asking where the #Ownitremix is, after I got nominated alongside him for BET Best International Act, Burna boy asked Stormzy’s team to take down the song immediately
This world is full of bullies.
If I leave any message at all from the life I’ve lived, I hope it’s to not be discouraged and to not be intimidated. To stay loving, kind and honest in the face of cruelty.
Song was out for a whole month before that, no problem
Everyone nominated has done big tings and should be confident that their work will speak for itself. Personally I’m happy with the work I have done in the past year. John Cena was an international phenomenon, I did that

I could be wrong. Maybe he has other reasons. But BET announcement was on June 15th and by June 17th I was getting complaints from fans saying they can’t find it. Either way, spirits up
To believe this I would have to believe that:
1. The song got automatically flagged a month late by coincidence
2. When they said YOU wanted it down they meant your label
3. A big international label would release a song without clearing it It’s a lot Burna. Let’s keep it

Burna Boy who just did a remix with MasterKG from South Africa, not wanting to get dragged in yet another controversy, cleared the air with a few tweets himself. He said:
“Own It is NOT my song.If my voice is on it however it should have been properly cleared.If the remix wasn’t cleared with the label(Atlantic US)it automatically gets flagged. Nothing to do with me personally or any award. Always best to reach out professionally. Congrats on BET’s!

Since his reply, fans have come to realise that the said South African signer could just be chasing clout, as she is barely known outside of South Africa. The only International recognition she got was on Ellen DeGeneres show where she met John Cena..lol
