FG Donates 6000 Bags Of Rice To Lagos State

The Federal Government has given six thousand 50kilograms bags of rice and two trucks of twenty litres of vegetable oil to the Lagos State Government for distribution to the poor and most vulnerable persons in the State.

This was in fulfilment to the promise made by President Muhammadu Buhari to send relief materials to the poor and vulnerable in Lagos and other states with lock-down to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

The items which were at the warehouse of the Nigeria Customs Service in Ikeja were handed over to the State Government by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiyya Farouk.

The Minister who met with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu behind closed doors at the Lagos House Marina, before proceeding to Ikeja to hand over the items, announced that the Federal Government’s social investment programmes, Trader Moni and Market Moni have also been expanded to capture more persons, especially the most vulnerable.

Hajia Sadiyya said relief materials would also be moved to Ogun State.

While thanking the Federal Government for the items, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said they would be evenly distributed.

 Governor Sanwo-olu who acknowledged the lapses in the first phase of the food Pack distribution appealed to residents to be patient and emphasized that more people would benefit in the second and third phases
