Nikki Bella and Brie Bella who together are known as the Bella twins in the WWE, are set for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The Bella Twins were guests Friday night on “A Moment of Bliss” on SmackDown, where they and everyone else learned they were going to be 2020 inductees, TMZ reports.
The news was first shared by Alexa Bliss during “A Moment of Bliss” segment on Friday Night SmackDown, with the WWE confirming the induction in a statement soon after the reveal
Bella Twins started their WWE careers in August 2008, and became hugely popular. Brie was the first to snag a championship, defeating Eve Torres to become WWE Divas Champion in April 2011. Nikki followed suit a year later … crushing WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.
The twins became pop culture icons, introducing a new generation of fans to wrestling … especially with their reality shows, “Total Bellas” and “Total Divas,” as well as their YouTube channel, which boasts more than 2.6 million subscribers.
Both women are well along — and close together — in their pregnancies.
They’ll be inducted in the the WWE Hall of Fame on April 2nd, during WrestleMania 36 Week.
The former pro wrestlers now joins fellow inductees Batista and nWo members Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash as WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
Brie reacting to the news, posted this message on her Instagram on Saturday, where she said:
“Words can’t describe the feeling of being inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame. Sooo incredibly grateful!! Our journey started with baby steps and leaps of faith. I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by powerful women who have paved the road and showed how to keep the path going. Breaking barriers only happens through the support of all of you, our Bella Army. It brings tears to my eyes to be considered for this honor. 💛” she said.
Nikki on her part, also shared her excitement saying:
“It’s hard to find all of the words to describe how happy, excited and honored I feel being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame with @thebriebella in Tampa, FL WrestleMania week. Yesterday we felt SO many beautiful emotions! Hall of Fame for us is the ultimate achievement of gratitude in our industry. It’s a place as a WWE Superstar we all hope to get to.
We couldn’t have done it without our strong, amazing Bella Army, our motivation to break barriers and want better for women, the inspiration of fight and courage from the women before us and the hunger from the women after us. Being inducted isn’t an achievement just about us, about me, it isn’t solo. Being inducted is about showing gratitude to everyone who helped you achieve your dreams.
I have SO many men and women to thank! My list is long! I am a lucky women to have so many come into my life to help me raise the bar, challenge myself, turn no’s into yes’s, negatives into positives, keep shinning light into darkness and fight for what I believe in.
