Caroline Flack Cause Of Death Confirmed As Hanging

The tragic death of former Love Island host, Caroline Flack has been confirmed as hanging by coroner court. The late British socialite was found hanged inside her North-East London home, an inquest has heard.

Poplar’s Coroner’s Court was told on Wednesday that police were flagged down outside the 40-year-old television presenter’s home in Stoke Newington, north-east London, on Saturday, February 15, 2020, Evening Standard reports.

Officers “found [her] lying on her back, she had apparently been found hanging”, coroner’s officer Sandra Polson said.

Police attempted resuscitation, which was then continued by paramedics, but she was pronounced dead at the scene

The hearing, which lasted four minutes, was told the provisional cause of her death was hanging.

Her twin sister Jody had to identify Ms Flack’s body.

Caroline Flack was reported to have been found dead at her home in east London on Saturday, in an apparent suicide. Her family confirmed the sad news on Saturday.

The statement from the family read: “We can confirm that our Caroline Flack passed away today on the 15th February. We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.”

Also, the boyfriend to Caroline who spoke about her death, Lewis Burton, defended Ms Flack.

A spokesperson for ITV said: “Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news. Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.”

It has been a tough few months for Caroline, after she was arrested and charged with assault by beating following an alleged fight at her home last month. However, she denied she had hit Lewis Burton 27, and was released on bail until her trial on March 4.

In even more tragic circumstances, on Valentine’s Day on Friday, Lewis showed his public support for Caroline, writing alongside a picture of them both: “Happy valentines.”

Following her appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court just before Christmas, Caroline Flack admitted it will be a “relief” when she is able to tell her “side of the story”.

She wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time: “Thankfully I know a lot of you will not believe all that you have heard and read following today’s court hearing … thank you for your continued support and love … It’s going to be a relief when I am able to give my side of the story, when I’m allowed to x. (sic)”

The court heard the prosecution allege that Caroline hit Lewis “in the head with a lamp”, but following the hearing he took to Instagram to insist she did not strike him with the object.

He wrote: “It’s been heartbreaking I can’t see my girlfriend over Christmas. What I witnessed today was horrible. She did not hit me with a lamp. Arguments do happen every day in every relationship. Gutted I am not allowed to protect her right now.”

The inquest was adjourned until August 5, the report added.
