Amy Schumer has revealed to her fans that she is struggling with her IVF treatment, as she revealed her bruised stomach on her Instagram account. She disclosed on Thursday afternoon telling her fans that her husband Chris Fisher and herself are trying for a second child, a few months after welcoming their first.
Thew 38-year-old comedian who welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Gene Attell in May 2019, shared an emotional post, detailing to fans how her IVF treatment has made her feel and asking for anyone to share stories that may be helpful to her.
She posted a graphic photo of her IVF treatment (midsection) which was bruised from multiple hormone injections, as well as showing her C-section scar from last year. She captioned the photo with these words:
“I’m a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional,” Schumer wrote on Instagram.
She added, “If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with me please do. My number is in my bio. We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”
The latest Instagram post by Schumer on her IVF treatment struggles, shows her revisiting her 2018 post, where she was hospitalized with hyperemesis gravidarum, a form of acute morning sickness she experienced during pregnancy.
Schumer has been vocal about the illness, taking aim at medical research for the lack of women’s health studies on hyperemesis and endometriosis.
Before giving birth, Schumer shared a photo in April, confirming to fans that she was “still pregnant and puking because money rarely goes to medical studies for women such as hyperemesis or endometriosis and instead goes to things like d—- not getting hard enough or old guys who want harder d—-.”
In addition to raising awareness on challenging experiences women face throughout pregnancy, Schumer is also an advocate for working moms and the community of people who make that possible.
Since her post on Thursday, she has been getting some positives replies on how to go about her IVF treatment and the post has gathered over 500,000 likes so far.
