Italian side, Napoli and manager Carlo Ancelotti have parted company, just hours after he guided them into this season UEFA Champions League rounds of 16.

Napoli who have struggled and looked out of shape under Ancelotti, have not won in nine games in all competitions. But they managed to beat Genk on Tuesday night in the Champions League to progress into the Knockout stages.

Carlo Ancelotti was the manager who took over from Sarri after he left to Chelsea but could not match the job done by Sarri, as they sit seventh in the League.

According to BBC report, Carlo Ancelotti who have been linked to the Arsenal job, alongside some Napoli players were in a high-profile dispute with president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

The report said De Laurentiis ordered the team to attend a week-long training camp but Ancelotti and his players all returned home.

A statement by the club on Tuesday night reads:

“SSC Napoli has taken the decision to part ways with first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“The friendship and mutual respect between the club, president Aurelio de Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact.”

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich Boss, before the announcement of his sacking granted an interview speaking about his future at the club, where he was quoted to have said:

“I’ll speak to president De Laurentiis tomorrow and we’ll make the best decision for Napoli.

“As far as I’m concerned, with certain players coming back and the right conditions in place, this team can still target fourth place.

“The win tonight is a weight off our shoulders and can give the players a big boost for the future,” he said.

No statement on his possible replacement, as Napoli enters the crucial stage of the Champions League.
