The 2019 Miss Universe has been crowned, and it is no other than the beautiful 26-year-old, Zozibin Tunzi of South Africa!

This year’s Miss Universe crown is estimated to be worth $5million, which is the most expensive one yet. The South African is an activist for ending violence against women and has been using social media to help spread the message.

The Miss Universe ceremony which was hosted by popular TV personality Steve Harvey, saw Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, beating her closest rivals, Miss Puerto Rican and Miss Mexico for the crown.

In her closing speech, a new segment in the competition, the 26-year-old spoke of breaking colour stereotypes and wanting to empower young women. She said:

“I grew up in a world where women who look like me with my kind of skin or my kind of hair are not considered to be beautiful, I think that it is time that this stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face, then see their faces reflected in mine”.

…congratulations to her and South Africa for making Africa proud!
