Dwayne Johnson who is known better as ‘The Rock’ has revealed to his fans on social media that he will be playing the anti-hero role of Egyptian Black Adam in a new superhero movie, which is a spin-off of Shazam, an American superhero film based on the DC Comics eponymous character.

The former WWE wrestler and Jumanji actor, posted a photo of his character Black Adam where he is levitating above a pile of rubble while wearing the classic Black Adam outfit with a lightning bolt.

Black Adam was a corrupted Egyptian who travelled to modern times and battled the likes of Superman and Shazam. The existence of him was hinted at in the 2019 Zachary Levi movie, but Black Adam was never revealed.

The Black Adam has super strength, super speed, super stamina and superhuman amounts of inner strength.

The Rock taking to his Instagram page on Thursday night, posted a long message describing his feelings about the new role, and how this role is bringing out his childhood dream into a reality. He said:

The Man in Black ⚡️ Like most kids growing up, I dreamed about being a superhero. Having cool superpowers, fighting for what’s right and always protecting the people. It all changed for me when I was 10yrs old and was first introduced to the greatest superhero of all time – SUPERMAN.

As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be. But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero, I could never be. I was too rebellious. Too rambunctious. Too resistant to convention and authority. Despite my troubles, I was still a good kid with a good heart – I just liked to do things my way.”

The Rock continued, saying:

“This role is unlike any other I’ve ever played in my career and I’m grateful to the bone we’ll all go on this journey together.”
