Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, William Troost-Ekong has agreed to a new 3-year contract agreement with his Italian and Serie-A club side, Udinese. The new contract comes just after a year of him joining the black and white side of Seria A, following his move from his former Turkish club, Bursaspor for an undisclosed fee.

The new contract will keep William Troost-Ekong at Udinese until 30 June 2023.

William Troost-Ekong who is a vice-captain of the Nigerian Super Eagles National Team side, had attracted a lot of clubs after his outstanding performance at the last 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, after which he finally settled for the Serie-A side, Udinese.

Eagles defender, since joining the Italian side last year, has been fantastic at the back for the club, showing off his leadership qualities on and off the pitch, and he has put in a total of 45 appearances in the league and the Italian Cup since joining them.

Speaking on the new contract, Manager Pierpaolo Marino said:

“That of William is an important renewal because it is a player of great value and charismatic for the locker room. It is an important message that shows how the players are doing well here in Udine. It is important to have a similar relationship with players who feel that they are connected to the cause. Thanks to the Pozzo family, which allows us to carry on great empathy with our players in everyday life” he said.

On his part, William Troost-Ekong who posted some of the ceremony photos of his new contract extension on his Instagram captioned the photo with these words:

“Very happy with my renewal. Thanks to Udinese for the confidence, the hard work continues! #ForzaUdinese,” he had captioned the photos he posted on Wednesday 6th November 2019.

A big congratulations to him and family for this good news, and also for Udinese for the move.
