Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Burna Boy has been crowned the winner of MTV -EMA Best African Act for 20019, becoming the 5th Nigerian to win the award.
Burna Boy who is still busy on the road, touring and sellig out shows around the world, was not present at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre on Sunday in Seville, Spain where the award show was hosted, but the award was received on his behalf.
Previous winners of the MTV EMA African Act are Tuface in 2005, Freshlyground from South Africa won it in 2006, and Dbanj in 2007, and 2012, LCNVL won it in 2013 and Souti Soul in 2014, Diamond in 2015, Ali Kiba 2016, Davido 2017, and Tiwa Savage in 2018.
