Drake respond to his father’s claim that he lied about their relationship in his songs to sell records, after his father, Dennis Graham claimed in an interview that he was never an absentee father to the Canadian rapper. He said the rapper made up all that in his lyrics so he could sell his records.

While visiting Power 106’s Nick Cannon Mornings radio show last Friday (Oct. 4), Nick Cannon asked about Graham’s purportedly once-strained relationship with his son Drake. In response, Graham said Drake had been making these claims to help his own record sales.

“I had a conversation with Drake about that,” Graham began.

I have always been with Drake. I talked to him if not every day, every other day and we really got into a deep conversation about that, ‘I said Drake, why are you saying all this different stuff about me man like this is not cool’. He goes ‘Dad it sells records,’ and I said ‘Okay well cool.‘”

All these, Drake has denied, as he took to his Instagram page on Tuesday to refute the claims by his father.

Drake said he woke up feeling “so hurt” over his dad’s words

My father will say anything to anymore that’s willing to listen to him,” he wrote. “It’s sad when the family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with.”

Flat out denying he ever lied in his lyrics about his dad, Drake ended the statement saying, “every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”

His song “Look What You’ve Done” talks about his father allegedly not paying child support or being around for big life events

And my father living in Memphis now, he can’t come this way/Over some minor charges and child support/That just wasn’t paid, damn/Boo-hoo, sad story—Black American dad story,” Drizzy says on the track.

While Drake has responded with disappointment, Dennis clearly thinks the two are still cool.
