Democrats leading candidate for the 2020 US Presidential election, Bernie Sanders has been reported to have suspended his campaign after undergoing emergency surgery on a blocked artery. 

The 78-year-old Democrat who had felt a little discomfort in his chest during a campaign last night, had to call off all events to enable him to undergo some medical evaluation, but they did not say for how long it is going to take for him to be back.

Bernie Sanders’s state of health was confirmed by his campaign team in a 

a press statement issued on Monday, where they said: 

During a campaign event yesterday evening, Mr Sanders experienced some chest discomfort.

“Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted.”

The statement went on to say that they would be cancelling all future events until further notice.

Senator Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days”, it read.

“We are cancelling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.’

Bernie Sanders ran against Hilary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.

He is one of the favourites to win the nomination for the 2020 presidential election.
