Breaking: Unai Emery names Granit Xhaka as Arsenal's captain

The head coach of Arsenal football club, Unai Emery has named Swiss International Granit Xhaka as Arsenal’s permanent captain, after experimenting with other four players since his arrival at the Emirate club.

The news means Granit Xhaka will now be the official captain of the London club after Laurent Koscielny, who left for Bordeaux in the summer.

According to reports, Emery told the squad of his decision on Friday, after consulting with players, who thereafter voted for the 27-year-old Swiss captain.

Granit Xhaka has led the side in six of their eight games in all competitions this season, and his first game as the official captain of the club will be in the game against Manchester United on Monday.

Those in contention for the position of the Vice-captain are Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Holding. But the manager we are told would favour a forward for the position, unlike what has happened in the past where Cech was given the position.
