The leader of the Scottish Conservatives Ruth Davidson has resigned her position to be with her young son, and not due to the move by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Queen to temporarily suspend Parliament, but due to family commitments. It is also on record that she does not support the Brexit and Boris Johnson, but has said that her party would respect the votes of the people and work for the future of the union.

Ruth Davidson who since announcing her resignation as the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, has been receiving commendations for her leadership, and for taking this bold step by her colleagues, said the threat of spending hundreds of hours away from her home and family now fills her with dread ‘That is no way to lead.’ she said.

Taking to her Twitter account on Thursday 29th August 2019, and just a few hours after Lord Young announced his resignation, Ruth Davidson said leading the Scottish Conservatives had been the ‘privilege of my life’, she said:
“Having led our party through seven national elections and two referenda, I know the effort, hours, and travel required to fight such campaigns successfully,’ she said.

‘I have to be honest that where the idea of getting on the road to fight two elections in 20 months would once have fired me up, the threat of spending hundreds of hours away from my home and family now fills me with dread. ‘That is no way to lead.

Additionally, I fear that having tried to be a good leader over the years, I have proved a poor daughter, sister, partner and friend. The party and my work have always come first, often at the expense of commitments to loved ones.
‘The arrival of my son means I now make a different choice.

Ruth Davidson in her long letter said she would continue in her role as MSP for Edinburgh Central until 2021.
