Pedro denies calling Ramos and Van Dijk best centre-backs

Chelsea and Spanish winger, Pedro has denied media reports saying that at his press conference for the Super Cup game against Liverpool on Wednesday, he called Liverpool’s defender Van Dijk and Real Madrid’s captain Sergio Ramos as the two best centre-backs in the world.

The 32-year-old Pedro who will be looking to win yet another trophy as a professional footballer, claimed that his words were twisted, as the questions he was asked was different, and had nothing to do with who is the best centre-back in the world.

The Chelsea man who was one of those that had a very terrible game against Manchester United over the weekend, setting the record straight and letting the world know those he thinks are the best, mentioned his former Barcelona teammates of Pique and Puyol, as the best center-backs. This was his statement making the clarifications. He said:

“Hello everyone,

I want to explain to all my supporters that on yesterday’s press conference I did not said that are he two best centre-back in the world, as several media has said.

I answered to the question of what differences I see between them, so I talked about their skills and said that both of them are in good shape.

But if you are asking about who is the best, if I have to select only one I would say Piqué because I think he is the best active nowadays. The best centre-back I’ve ever played with is Puyol and the one I’ve liked the most.

I want to explain that because there are a lot of commentaries about this issue and does not fit to what I really said. Now it’s time to focus on tonights’ game”.
