Ivorian entertainer, DJ Arafat is dead after a motorcycle accident 

Popular Ivorian entertainer , an ex-disc jockey Ange Didier Huon best known as DJ Arafat, has been pronounced dead from the wounds he sustained from a motorcycle accident.

According to Ivorian State media, DJ Arafat died on Monday in Abidjan after his motorcycle crashed at the 7th district at the Soro Guillaume bridge in Cocody on Sunday night.

The afrobeat DJ who was said to have been riding without his Motorcycle helmet died at the Polyclinique des Deux Plateaux in Abidjan which was where he was rushed to after plunging into a coma, and was admitted into the intensive care through out Sunday to Monday. His motorcycle crashed into a car driven by a Radio Côte d’Ivoire journalist but came off worse.

His situation was being monitored by Doctors from Sunday to Monday morning, as thousands of fans gathered at the Polyclinique des Deux Plateaux hoping for a piece of good news. He was reported dead around 2 pm on Monday.

The state TV in their statement said:

“He was admitted to the emergency room in a vegetative state. He had a skull fracture and oedema,” a doctor from the institution told Jeune Afrique, on condition of anonymity. The medical teams tried to revive him, “in vain”.

Born in 1986 in Yopougon, a town in western Abidjan and was one of those that introduced the afrobeat sounds to his country Cote d’Ivoire with the help of some Nigerian musicians.
