Breaking: Former UEFA President Michel Platini arrested in Paris

Former UEFA President Michel Platini has been arrested in Paris as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in the decision to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup.

The former UEFA President Michel Platini has already been given a four-year ban from football by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for receiving a payment of 1.8 million euros from Sepp Blatter.

Mediapart and Le Monde report that he was arrested on Tuesday morning as part of an investigation carried out by the National Finance Department. He is currently being held at the Anti-Corruption Office of the Judicial Police in Nanterre, near Paris, France.
