Queen Elizabeth on Saturday 8th of June 2019 marked her official 93rd birthday as she was joined by her other Royal family members at the traditional Trooping the Colour parade to mark the special day.
The Queen’s actual birthday is 21 April but is officially celebrated in June with Trooping the Colour, which has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.
Her Majesty was joined by The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, The Duke of Kent, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, were also in attendance at Her Majesty The Queen inspects her Birthday Trooping the Colour parade.
The parade is one of the nation’s most impressive and iconic events, which is a display of soldiers’ physical prowess and discipline.
The Queen as a tradition, travels down The Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.
Today which is the official 93rd birthday celebration of the Queen is also the 69th time Queen Elizabeth will be attending Trooping the Colour, a great display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare to mark her official birthday.
The Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) took part in her first Trooping the Colour parade in 1947, and now during her reign as the Queen, she has attended Trooping the Colour every year except 1955 when it was cancelled because of the general strike.
The parade saw over 1,400 soldiers, almost 300 horses and 400 musicians from The Household Division and The Household Calvary which all took part in Trooping the Colour this morning to mark The Queen’s official birthday.
According to information released by the Royal family, historically, the official celebrations to mark the Sovereigns’ birthday have often been held on a day other than the actual birthday, particularly when the actual birthday has not been in the summer. King Edward VII, for example, was born on 9 November, but his official birthday was marked throughout his reign in May or June when there was a greater likelihood of good weather for the Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour.
The Queen usually spends her actual birthday privately, but the occasion is marked publicly by gun salutes in central London at midday: a 41 gun salute in Hyde Park, a 21 gun salute in Windsor Great Park and a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London. In 2006, Her Majesty celebrated her 80th Birthday in 2006 with a walkabout in the streets outside of Windsor Castle to meet well-wishers.
