Ex- Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas, whose activities in the 70’s and 80’s troubled America especially the Police, so much that it was later documented as one of the most troubled times in the history of drug wars in America.
His life style, connections in the American government and his connection in the US military and beyond which were all drug related activities,at such a young age, that made him appeared almost like a mini god or super hero to the young, and old black African American communities would be later turned into a film in 2007.
The film was titled The American Gangster, which was directed by Ridley Scott, with Denzel Washington as a lead act.
According to reports his nephew Aldwan Lassiter said Frank Lucas died on Thursday in New Jersey, where he had lived for years at the age of 88.
Frank Lucas became a major heroin dealer before being convicted in 1975 and sentenced to decades in prison.
He turned informant and was released after about five years.
The movie brought scrutiny of dubious claims in Lucas’ legend, particularly a portrayal of him smuggling drugs in US soldiers’ caskets during the Vietnam War.
As for Lucas’ unquestioned role in supplying potent heroin, he said in 2007 that he regretted doing “some terrible things”.
