Aston Villa wins championship play-off and are now Premier league bound, after beating Frank Lampard led Derby 2-1 on Monday to be crowned champions.

Aston Villa winning goals came from Anwar El Ghazi header and John McGinn who capitalised on Kelle Roos’ poor goalkeeping to nod in a second for Aston Villa at the Wembley. Although Derby tried their luck, after Jack Marriott got one back for the Frank Lampard team, it was not enough for them to get anything from the game and their quest for a Premier League football.

The winners Aston Villa going for the play-off for the second time in a row had the hungry to do it right this time after last season’s hear break in the hands of Fulham. They showed everything in this playoff and got the right result they deserved.

The Championship play-off win is estimated to be worth £170 million, which is the biggest in the world of sports. It now means Aston Villa will now join already promoted teams such as Norwich and Sheffield United in the English top flight next season.

Frank Lampard will likely continue his coaching career with Derby next season, as they continue their quest for a promotion to the Premier League in a 12th consecutive season
