Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after yet another humiliation at the Goodison Park against Everton on Sunday, said he is apologizing to the fans of Manchester United, as they played so bad that he cannot explain what went wrong in that game. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his men were thrashed 4-0 by Everton, to record their sixth defeat in eight games, and missed the opportunity to go above Chelsea and Arsenal on the table.
The goals for Everton came from Richarlison who opened the scoring, then Gylfi Sigurdsson hit an outside volley to beat De Gea for their second goal, before Lucas Digne scored a beauty to make it three, and substitute Theo Walcott netting the fourth goal to wrap up the Easter Sunday for Manchester United.
While speaking after the game, although he did not mention names, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer questioned the commitment of the players to the club, after the game at Goodison Park. But first, he said:
“We have got to apologise to the fans,” he said. “That performance was not good enough for a Manchester United team – from me to the players.
”We know we let the fans and the club down. That performance is difficult to describe because it was so bad. They beat us on all the basics.
“We were beaten on all the ingredients you need, added to your talent, today. As I said last week as well, there is no place to hide on the pitch. It was 85 minutes before we had a shot on target. It’s not good enough. We know that.”
“We just got thumped 4-0 and they [the fans] never moaned at our players,” he added. “Which they could have done.
”They have been supportive again and I am sure they will support us on Wednesday night. It is up to us – the players and the staff – to get ourselves ready.“ he said.
Manchester United now face even a more difficult task at stopping Manchester City on Wednesday, as another defeat for Ole’s men could mean that their dream for a top-four finish this season, will be all over. This is the time they need their supporters, and Ole is optimistic his boys will be given the needed support come Wednesday by the fans at Old Trafford.
