Jussie Smollett's Trial Begin On Monday In Chicago

Jussie Smollett might have been freed of all charges on his hoax homophobic and racial attack, he is clearly not free from all the backlash as two separate sets of protesters on Monday stormed the offices of Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx over her office’s handling of the Jussie Smollett case.

According to the Blast, one side was the Fraternal Order of Police, who want Kim Foxx to step down after all charges against Smollett were dismissed last month.

FOP president Kevin Graham told ABC7 in Chicago, “We expended a lot of manpower and we’ve done a lot of work to make sure that this case was brought to trial, and it wasn’t. These police officers, I believe it cost us $130,000 in overtime? That’s a lot of money to just throw away.”

On the other side was a group led by Jessie Jackson, who said they stand by Kim Foxx and point out that many people in Chicago have class 4 felony charges against them dropped. Jackson called the backlash against Kim Foxx “unreasonable, unjustified and politically motivated.”

The Blast also reported that people close to the R. Kelly case believe Foxx’s office is under even more pressure because of how the Jussie Smollett case turned out.

Both Mayor Rahm Emanuel and President Donald Trump came out with harsh words against Foxx once the Smollett case was dismissed
