British-Nigerian actress Sophie Okonedo has been awarded with the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday.

Sophie Okonedo is one of the hottest faces in the Hollywood film industry, and veteran actress who has appeared in some of the big screens of Hollywood. She is also that woman that has taken her British heritage and sold it the best way she can in her chosen filed, and now she adds yet another award for her contribution to entertainment.

She is being recognized for contribution to drama and many more, as she is honoured with a CBE for her Services.

Others honoured alongside Sophie Okonedo were British diver John Volanthen who received The George Medal for his bravery in the Thai cave rescue, last summer. Six other cave divers were named in the New Year Honours and will attend their investitures throughout this year.

Another one is Anthony van Laast presented with CBE for Services to Dance and Choreography.

Former England cricket captain Alastair Cook, received a Knighthood from Her Majesty adding that with his CBE, and MBE.
