The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri zonal office on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, secured an interim order of forfeiture for uncompleted building located at 37 AV Road, Barracks Road, Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State, suspected to be proceeds of corruption from one Musa Bazza.
According to the statement by EFCC, the forfeiture order was made by Justice Hammada Isa Dashen of a Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State, consequent upon a motion ex-parte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the said building, which is suspected to be the proceeds of financial crimes for which one Sulaiman Musa Bazza is under investigation.
Justice Dashen held that: “I have considered the motion ex-perte with paragraphs 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and the annexures therein. The motion has merit and I hereby considered it. This motion is hereby granted as prayed.” The Commission acted upon a petition written sometimes in September 2018 by concerned citizens of the state against the respondent for criminal diversion of public funds.
Upon receipt of the petition, operatives swung into action by conducting a preliminary investigation, which revealed that Musa Bazza who is a public servant attached to Federal Pay office, Damaturu, diverted some monies meant for the Federal Government and purchased the property in question.
