Pep Guardiola grabbed his first trophy of the season, after his team Manchester City beat Chelsea 4-3 on Penalties to retain the Carabao Cup at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Raheem Sterling scored the winning penalty after the miss from Jorginho and David Luiz, to deny manager Sarri his first trophy as a manager.

Chelsea went into the game just two weeks after their 6-0 demolishing by Manchester City, and as expected, having learned from that embarrassing defeat in the league,  they took on a more defensive shape which made it hard for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It was a frustrating night for City as they could not find the final ball at the Chelsea half, given how the London team were set up, and after 120minutes of goalless draw, it was shootout which Manchester City beats Chelsea in the shootouts.

The talking point in that game would be the mini-drama that took place between Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and his manager, Sarri, as having gone down twice due to a muscular problem, the Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted by his coach , despite Willy Caballero being ready to come on.

Kepa’s refusal to be substituted somehow contributed to them losing the shootout, as Sarri’s change was supposed to be a tactical one which could have benefited the team.

The Chelsea second choice goalkeeper Willy Cabellero given his history as a shot-stopper and someone who has done it once for Manchester City in the League Cup final, could have made it happen also for Chelsea on the night, but Kepa denied him, Sarri and the entire Chelsea team that opportunity.

Kepa saved one penalty from Leroy Sane, but City converted their other four as Manchester City beats Chelsea to give Pep Guardiola first trophy and one trophy down on the potential journey to a quadruple.
