Controversial rapper/fashion designer, Kanye West has labelled his contract with EMI as servitude and claims he’s entitled “to be set free from its bonds.”
Kanye West who seems to be carrying over all his shenanigans of 2018 into 2019 had a few weeks back dragged EMI and Roc-A-Fella Records to Court as he feels he is in bondage and wants out.
TMZ reports that Kanye West says the deal he signed with EMI effectively has no time limit and could last the rest of his natural life which to him, amounts to being a slave…lol
Kanye complained that personal services contracts cannot last longer than 7 years because they amount to “servitude.”
TMZ reported that the deal requires him to deliver a certain number of songs and, until they are delivered, the contract remains in full force and effect and could last his entire life…
Kanye West after filing the lawsuit had posted this on his social media page:
“I got the money. So, big Jon, Marty, whoever is involved, I need my publishing. I got the money,” Kanye said. “I’m not gonna say the S-word (referring to ‘slave’). I’m not Prince; I don’t need to write it on my face.”
…But my question is, did Kanye West not know about all these details he is giving out about EMI when he signed with them? Also can he not go back to them and renegotiate his contract terms or if possible see if there is a way to settle amicably, and out of Court…because from all he has said, the whole thing could be against him and puts him back deeper into another legal case even bigger than what he is presently dragging with EMI…
