Senator Jang refutes EFCC claims on N500m Kaduna properties

The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial zone and the immediate past Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jang has a few hours ago, refuted the claims levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) insisting that the Anti-Graft agency linking him to a property in Kaduna he knows nothing about is malicious and politically motivated

Senator Jang’s statement is coming a few hours after the EFCC released a statement that they traced a property worth the sum of N500million which they said belongs to Senator Jonah Jang.
In a swift reaction to the allegation, the media aide to the Senator, one Clinton Garuba, said the said property which is being linked to his Boss, has been investigated on a number of occasions, and it does not belong to Senator Jonah Jang. He said:

“The property located at No. 8 and 9 Gobarau Road, Unguwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna State does not belong to Senator Jang,” the statement said.

“The property formerly belonging to Northern Nigerian Development Company, Kaduna, was allocated to the senator while he was the executive governor of Plateau State but eventually lost interest and did not continue with the acquisition.”

EFCC had earlier released a statement saying:

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced properties worth N500, 000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira) only to former Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang.

The properties are located at No. 8 and 9 Gobarau Road Unguwan Rimi GRA Kaduna State, as the EFCC preliminary investigations revealed that the said properties were purchased from New Capital Properties Limited, a subsidiary of Northern Nigerian Development Company, NNDC, Kaduna.”

The Senator has issued a report that the actions of the EFCC are deliberate, as they are trying to ridicule him and tarnish his person. He is also standing trial on an alleged N6.3billion naira fraud.

His statement reads:
“The decision to turn down the invitation was an easy one because the senator is under trial in Jos, the Plateau State capital having been charged to court by the same commission, and the matter is expected to commence definite hearing around the date of the invitation.

“To be sure, it is baffling how the EFCC expects the serving senator to be in two places at the same time since he does not possess any psychic abilities.”
