Birthright citizenship in the United State is to end soon, as President Donald Trump is about making yet another unpopular move, as he is alleged to be planning to put an end to citizenship for children born in America whose parents are non-citizens of the United States and illegal immigrants living in the United State of America.
This clearly is not a good news not just for millions of parents around the world, and those still nursing that dream of giving birth in the United States, but also for the thousands of Hospitals in the United States who make fortune from foreigners on medical tourism, especially those coming just to give birth.
According to the report, the move is targeted at the elections, as President Trump is doing everything possible to make sure his party wins. He is also battling at the border, where thousands of illegal immigrants from Mexico and South Americans have besieged the border post for days, as they hope to force their way into the United States of America.
The President will be carrying out this ban on birthright citizenship, through an executive order, as he told Axios in an interview published on Tuesday. Unlike the Islamic ban, this will be a much tougher battle, that will probably not see the light of day, as almost half of the American populations are in one way or the other a product of what Trump is trying to put an end to (birthright citizenship)…Trump too, going back from his heritage, also benefited from this same law he is trying to thrash overnight!
The move will be unconstitutional, as the law the right of U.S. citizenship is granted to U.S.-born children under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which cannot be changed by the president.
President Trump has been winning, but this particular move will definitely backfire, as it is a very unpopular move in every way you want to look at it, and if followed through, could hurt him and his party in the Presidential elections…even with the job growth!
In the interview he said:
“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits,”
Several other countries, including Canada, have a policy of birthright citizenship, according to an analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates for reducing immigration.
“It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. And it has to end,” he continued.
The American Civil Liberties Union slammed Trump’s proposal Tuesday morning.
“The president cannot erase the Constitution with an executive order, and the 14th Amendment’s citizenship guarantee is clear,” said Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project.
“This is a transparent and blatantly unconstitutional attempt to sow division and fan the flames of anti-immigrant hatred in the days ahead of the midterms.”
The White House did not provide additional details of the planned executive order on Tuesday morning.
“It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t,” he said, adding that he has run it by his counsel. “You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they’re saying I can do it just with an executive order,” Trump said.
The President didn’t provide any details of his plan, but said that “it’s in the process. It’ll happen.”
